52. Phrasal Verbs
Phrasal verbs refer to verbs and prepositions which together have a special meaning. For example, put + off means, “postpone”. A phrasal verbs may be either separable or nonseparable.
With a separable phrasal verb, a noun may come either between the verb and the preposition or after the preposition. A pronoun comes between the verb and the preposition.
With a nonseparable phrasal verb, a noun or pronoun must follow the preposition.

1. Bring up Rear children and mention or introduce a topic
2. Call back Return a telephone back
3. Cheer up make (someone) feels happier
4. Drop off Leave something/someone at a place
5. Get back Return from
6. Hand in Submit an assignment
7. Look up Look for information in a reference book
8. Pick up go to get someone(such as in a car)
9. Put off postpone
10. Switch Stop a machine, light, faucet
Nonseparable phrasal verbs meaning
1. Check in, check into register at a hotel
2. Drop by, drop in (on) visit informally
3. Get out of Leave
4. Get up arise from bed, a chair
5. Grow up become an adult
6. Keep up (with) Stay at the same position or level
7. Look after Take care of
8. Pass away die
9. Put up with tolerate
10. Show up appear, come
11. Take after resemble
